The Process

- The car driver behind the steering wheel inserts the ignition key into the switch.

- The next step that follows is to turn the ignition key to start position. This start position is also technically known as spring loaded start position.

- In this position, the ignition key inside the switch engages the starter. While doing so, the car's battery is connected to electric starter motor. This makes the switch engage the starter. In this process, the electric starter motor cranks the engine over.

- When the engine cranks, you can hear it and generally it means that your car has started.
